What is NY Growers?
At its core, NY Growers is about things that grow in New York: plants, people, movements, businesses, ideas.
It is a multimedia edutainment project created by me: Brooklyn Botanic Garden-certified horticulturalist John Facey.
By creating fun and engaging videos about native species, environmental issues, and more, my goal with NY Growers is to redefine ecology as generational wealth for all.
What do I mean by this?
With a certification in horticulture from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a degree in English and Creative Writing from NYU, and over 10 years of experience in multimedia marketing and design, I use my skills to bring timely ecological education out of the classroom and into the popular culture through visual media and the technological magic of social networking.
I do so with a generous dose of my own unique personality. That being said, the views expressed through NY Growers are nobody else’s but my own.
NY Growers is not a science textbook. I am not a random influencer using environmental language in bad faith to get clicks. This is hands-on, community-focused ecology from a New York state of mind: as raw, original, and uncut as the soil beneath our feet.
